I never grew up around dogs but my wife had a couple of dogs in her family and she always would tell me when we got our own place she wanted a bullmastiff. So after i done a bit of research i started to grow fond of the idea and the breed itself. I came across an advert in the local paper one evening that was selling Bullweiler's - father bullmastiff/mother rothweiler. It got me curious and i went to see the pups. At that time they were 16 weeks old and they were already a really nice size. There was 1 dog and 3 bitches in the litter and i always knew i would be getting a dog instead of a bitch. So after a little bit of taught and consulation with my wife, along with a visit by my wife, we brought Rocky home with us. He is now over 3 Years old and as energtic as ever. He is easily 27in at the shoulder if not 28in and weighs 65kgs.
A month or so had passed when we decided to get Rocky a playmate and companion. When we were at the home of breeder getting Rocky we noticed he had a litter of bullmastiff's also, they were a little older at 8 months, so we went back and inquired about them. We decided on getting another dog and i had one already in mind from my previous visits. Simba was then part of our family a week later. Even though he has a couple of faults from the breed standard he is a top class pet and personality, sometimes i think he is talking to me. He is coming up on his 3rd birthday and weighs 54kgs.
I then got into the showdog scene, i attended a couple of local shows and then ended up going further a field to attend shows. Meeting alot of interesting people and their views on dogs in general. I got it into my head if i came across the right pup i would give it a go sometime. I could never show Rocky or Simba for their different reasons so i needed a new pup to give it a go. In january of 2009 i found out that the breeder i got Rocky and Simba from was expecting a litter of pups and i asked if i could reserve a dog if possible. On 4th of March the pups were born and there was 2 dogs and 3 bitches. There was one red and one fawn dog and i decided on the fawn. Apollo was home to us 8 weeks later.
